Whales
Breach with station in the background!
Kelp gulls waiting for the whale's left over krill.
Most magestic picture of Kelp Gulls you'll ever see!

Video for kids about life in Antarctica
A friend made this video about me for elementary-middle school age kids. She did a great job with it and I think it is good at showing how it is to live here.

Removing an old Navy Cache
We had a good weather window so I was able to get out to the Joubin Island to service a remote weather station that had gone down. The island group is about 10 miles away from station.
After landing, we hauled the replacement battery up a big snowy hill and got the weather station up and running again.
It was a very nice clear day, with great views back towards Anvers Island.
The second part of the mission was to recover an old cache from the top of a different island. The cache wasn't old enough to be considered historic and needed to be recovered as waste.
Some old tools that had rusted together.
An inedible can of peanut butter. There were some old MREs, a tent, two sleeping bags entombed in ice, a blanket, a couple boxes of "spiced beef" rations in cardboard boxes. We weren't able to retrieve everything because it was stuck in too much ice so we will have to go back out later in the season when it has melted out.
This is the island with the cache.
Nice sunset.
