Nice weather window

Because of the week long nice weather window things have been very busy! I was able to get out to the Joubins and do some maintenance on the weather station out there. The site had not bee visited in two years so there was a lot to do!

There was a plane! Can you spot it? The nearest airport is about 200 miles north of Palmer of King George island.

Another Palmer Thanksgiving

We got the galley all fancy for thanksgiving, which was on a Friday for us, with a two day weekend to follow (one of the three we will get this season). 

I made my (Palmer) famous boursin cheese (the one to the left of the jam). It was delicious. 

The chefs made a big brunch table instead of breakfast or lunch. 

I also made some milk tarts, with a fancy cinnamon dusting. 

Veggie option was pumpkin soup, leek and zucchini gallate, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole.

Penguin Cam and NBP

And the snow just keeps falling!

So much snow to dig through to get down to the rock to install the solar panels for the penguin cam. 

There is so much snow the penguins are having to go down to the beach to pick up rocks for their nests this year.

Cormorants landed right next to the boat while dropping off the birders to do their work on Torgersen. 

The NBP is town, more new people, more cargo, and a small window of sunny weather!!

New loader!

The NBP is embarking for New Zealand and then to South Africa and then back to PA. It's doing a full circumnavigation of Antarctica this year.
