Seasons First Auroras

We covered up the windows for the winter yesterday. I spent the past week painting new ones for the galley.
I did one for every continent. The seventh one is of the view of the sunset behind ARO and it is in the window where you would be able to see ARO from the galley.
We had the first auroras of the season. I didn't have my nice camera with me at the time (I guess I'll have to start carrying it everywhere now). This picture was taken by my meteorologist friend
I took a picture with the small lab camera I carry everywhere and this is what came out, this is more what it looked like in real life. Since we still have a good amount of light on the horizon the auroras were pretty dim but that didn't stop me from sitting on the roof of ARO and watching them appear and disappear for about twenty minutes.
Today was the coldest it's been this year so far. The wind was very light which made it possible for it to get this cold, but it really doesn't feel that much colder because of the light wind. I would rather have a -100 non-windy day than a day at 15 knots at only -60 F.
