Arrival in Punta Arenas

Approaching Punta Arenas you fly over some ice covered parts of Patagonia.
Big glaciers and mountains peaking out between clouds.
It was mostly cloudy.
Still pretty though. Upon arrival the contact picked us up and asked if we wanted to go to a new "natural history museum" which was a biologist and an artist's partnership is restoring skeletons of the local fauna.

These and sea lions.
These are false orca skulls from a huge beaching event years ago. These guys go out into the waters and look for thing that have washed up and accept road kill calls and other tips. Then they clean the bones amd rebuild the skeletons.
The museum is located in an old slaughter house they are are renovating into work shops and museum space.
The jaw on the right is a sperm whale.
The skulls of cormorants, albatross, and penguins. It was a very interesting museum.

I'm staying one night in a nice old hotel near the central square of Punta Arenas with very tall windows.
Tomorrow I move onto the boat!
