This weekend was one of those rare two days weekends. Every winter there is a 48 hour film festival, all the stations in Antarctica that want to participate create a 5 min max funny video and send it out to all the other stations and everyone votes. The stations that win (there are multiple categories to win in) send out the special rules the following year.
This year the special rules were to incorporate peas and a toilet seat as a prop, someone had to say "it's a very complicated algorithm" and include a "boinging" noise. The picture above is the scene I star in. I'm also in the science scene below. Our story line is based off the facilities engineer keeping the station below freezing temps (which he doesn't do obviously) and all the trouble we are putting up with to keep warm inside the station. I will post the link to the video when the editing is completed! We had Christmas in July, had the galley and hallways all decorated. The winter station manager left us presents of pistachios, candy and toys under the galley Christmas tree. We also had white elephant gift exchange that was a really fun time. The most coveted presents that were 'stolen' the most during the exchange were the last few Red Bull cans left on station, a box of buildable toys and my painting.
Bonus picture: The classic frost covered face/eyelashes/hat picture that is a part of everyday life here. Eyelashes freezing together is a common occurrence!
