Evening walk to Point Eight

It has been getting dark at night again and that make for great lighting at reasonable hours again. We had a calm evening so I went for a walk to Point 8, which is up and over the glacier from station. It is about a mile away and if the furthest you can walk without having to use a boat or leave the flag line on a rope team. This is the first year that Point 8 is open to walk to from station in over 3 years. It was opened up again because we mapped a new safe route off the glacier onto land.
Point 8 has much more wildlife and grass and moss compared to the relatively barren backyard.
 Getting a good scratch in.

It even has a beach! With waves!
 And sand!
 Interesting rocks.

There are two types of flowering plants in Antarctica. Antarctica hair grass and pearl-wort. This is pearl-wort in full bloom!
 Sleek fur seal.
Newly exposed islands. These separated from the glacier 4 or 5 years ago.
Nice light on the glacier.

Very nice light on the water coming back over the top of the glacier. What a beautiful place to live.
