Winter overs get to choose to go on R&R back in McMurdo for a few days, it's like a mini working vacation. I traded places with the person who does the same job as me in Mcmurdo while she got to go to Pole and do my job.
The glacier below is the Beardmore, the one Scott and his men man hauled up in 1911. It is about 200 km long and is 40 km wide. It is one of the largest valley glaciers in the world.
The transantarctic mountains are amazing.
We safely arrived in McMurdo, where I will be staying for about five days.
You can see our contrail coming from the pole.
